Prepare lighter photos for uploads, email and web pages. Adjust image quality and maximum dimensions, then compare the resulting file size before saving.
- Adjust quality for JPG and WebP
- Reduce oversized pixel dimensions
- Compare original and output file sizes
Start with dimensions you need
A large camera photo often has more pixels than an upload requires. Reduce its maximum dimensions before pushing quality very low.
Balance detail and file size
Lower JPG or WebP quality can reduce bytes but may introduce artifacts. Inspect text, gradients and fine detail in the preview.
Treat PNG differently
PNG uses lossless encoding, so the quality slider does not work like JPEG quality. Reducing dimensions or changing format may be necessary for a smaller file.
Check the actual result
Re-encoding does not guarantee a smaller file or an exact kilobyte target. Compare the output size and keep the original if the result is unsuitable.
Image Compressor FAQs
There is no exact-size target mode. Adjust dimensions and quality, then check the measured output size.
JPG cannot retain transparency. Use PNG or WebP when transparent areas are needed.
Check the upload form’s pixel requirements first. Reduce excessive dimensions, then lower JPG or WebP quality gradually and compare the measured output with the limit. A 100 KB or 200 KB result is not guaranteed; PNG may need resizing or a format change.
