Raise or lower the level of a quiet recording with live gain controls. Compare the sound during playback, then render a WAV with automatic sample-peak headroom.

Start with a modest boost

Increase gain gradually and listen at a safe playback volume. A large gain increase also raises background hiss and room noise.

Watch for clipping

Live playback uses a dynamics limiter to control loud passages. Export instead reduces the whole rendered signal when necessary to leave −0.1 dBFS sample-peak headroom; this can reduce the apparent boost.

Distinguish gain from normalization

A gain setting applies your chosen multiplier. Peak normalization instead measures the input and calculates a multiplier for a target peak level.

Do not expect damaged peaks to recover

Lowering or limiting an already clipped recording does not restore the waveform that was lost during capture. Start from a cleaner source when possible.

Audio Volume Booster FAQs

No. Gain raises wanted audio and noise together.
No. This page does not measure or target integrated LUFS loudness.
The source may already be clipped, or a large boost may drive the monitoring limiter. Lower the gain and compare with the original. Export reduces overall gain when needed for sample-peak headroom; boosting cannot recover missing or distorted samples.
Audio Volume Booster updates the effect during playback when you adjust a control. Use A/B to compare with the source. Render download creates a separate file using the current settings; moving a slider invalidates the previous download.
