JPG to PNG Converter

Choose one or more JPG or JPEG files and review the first image. There is no quality slider because the PNG export stores the decoded pixels without a lossy quality setting.

PNG preserves the pixels produced when the browser decodes the JPG. It cannot restore texture, sharpness or color information that was discarded when the source JPEG was created.

PNG is useful when an editor, design tool or upload form specifically requests PNG. Converting an opaque JPG does not automatically remove its background or create transparent pixels.

Photographs commonly take more bytes as PNG than as JPG because the formats compress image data differently. Compare the actual files instead of assuming conversion also compresses them.
