Base64 Decoder Online
Decode standard or URL-safe Base64 into readable UTF-8 text. Inspect encoded text values without treating the result as executable HTML or code.
- Read standard and URL-safe Base64
- Restore Unicode text from UTF-8 bytes
- Reject invalid UTF-8 text payloads
Paste the encoded portion
Supply the Base64 string itself. A data URI includes a prefix before the comma; remove that prefix when decoding a text payload.
Restore readable characters
Decoded bytes are interpreted as UTF-8. Correctly encoded accents, non-Latin text and emoji can then be displayed.
Distinguish text from binary
An encoded photo or audio file is binary data, not necessarily valid UTF-8. This text decoder is not a file extraction tool.
Inspect tokens without trusting them
Decoding reveals content but does not prove who created it. Use JWT Decoder for a three-part token and remember that decoding does not verify its signature.
Base64 Decoder FAQs
Its decoded bytes are not UTF-8 text. Use a file-aware data URI viewer or decoder.
It only reverses encoding. Any encryption inside the decoded payload still needs its own decryption process.
Remove the media-type prefix and comma first, then paste only the encoded portion. For example, the text after data:text/plain;base64, can be decoded here. An image’s data URI contains binary bytes and is not a valid input for this UTF-8 text decoder.
