The moderate preset begins with a 7 dB shelf, a clearly audible tonal adjustment. It suits deliberate bass-forward listening more than transparent correction of an already mastered mix.
Protect competing instruments
Listen through a busy chorus rather than judging only a sparse introduction. Bass enhancement can mask low piano notes, guitar body and the lower part of a vocal at the same time.
Use trim before judging
Reduce output trim when the monitoring limiter is working hard. A less-loud but better-balanced comparison is more useful than assuming the version with the largest immediate impact is best.
Check the actual download
Peak protection can lower the finished signal uniformly. Replay the rendered WAV, not only the live effect, to judge the final tradeoff between bass emphasis and available overall level.
