Add Silence to Audio

or drop files here

Add silent time before or after an audio track. Set separate lead-in and tail durations to prepare a recording for playback or another editing workflow.

Give playback a delayed start

A silent lead-in creates room before the first sound. It delays the whole recording rather than fading its beginning.

Leave space after the ending

A silent tail extends the file after the last source sample. It does not create reverberation or an echo decay.

Calculate the new length

Output duration is the source duration plus both padding values. WAV size grows along with the added samples.

Keep padding at the boundaries

This tool inserts silence only before and after the recording. It does not place gaps at arbitrary points inside it.

Add Audio Silence FAQs

No. It adds zero-valued samples around the existing audio.
No. Use an appropriate editor or gate for internal unwanted sound.
Set the silence before the track to 2 seconds and the silence after it to 0 unless a tail is also needed. The original sound begins after that lead-in. For a pause inside the recording, use an editing workflow that can split and place segments.
Add Audio Silence schedules a background render after a setting changes. The completed preview or analysis replaces the previous result automatically. Processing time depends on recording length and device performance; the status message shows when the new result is ready.
