Trim Audio Silence
Remove quiet lead-in and tail sections from a recording. Set a dBFS threshold to find the useful outer boundaries while leaving pauses inside the track alone.
- Trim quiet audio at the beginning and end
- Choose a detection threshold in dBFS
- Retain interior pauses in the recording
Set the threshold near the noise floor
A lower threshold retains quieter material. A higher threshold cuts further inward and may remove breaths, soft notes or word endings.
Inspect the first and last sounds
Listen after processing to make sure the trim did not start inside a syllable or end before a natural decay.
Keep conversational pauses
The operation searches for outer boundaries only. It does not remove every quiet gap between words or sentences.
Handle an all-quiet source
If no sample crosses the threshold, there is no detected content interval. The tool returns a minimal silent result instead of an invalid empty audio buffer.

Trim Audio Silence FAQs
No. This tool trims only the beginning and ending.
The threshold may be too high for that word. Lower it and process the original again.
The threshold may be too high, so quiet speech was treated as silence. Lower the threshold and process the original again. Listen to the first and last words carefully; this tool trims only the outer quiet sections, not pauses throughout a conversation.
Trim Audio Silence schedules a background render after a setting changes. The completed preview or analysis replaces the previous result automatically. Processing time depends on recording length and device performance; the status message shows when the new result is ready.
