Add a restrained foundation

Compare quietly
At a moderate headphone level, toggle the original and processed versions. A subtle improvement should remain audible without turning the master volume up between comparisons.
Avoid unnecessary changes
If the original already carries strong kick and bass energy, reset the effect or choose another treatment. Even a gentle shelf can emphasize room rumble in a spoken recording.
Prepare a conservative master
Render the mild treatment and listen on a second device. Small speakers may barely reproduce the lowest octave, so raising the setting further may add headroom cost without a useful audible benefit.
