Capacitance Converter

Capacitance Converter lets you convert capacitance through the farad: value × source factor / target factor. Enter your own values or load the worked example.

Method and calculation

Convert capacitance through the farad: value × source factor / target factor. Factors relative to farad: F = 1; mF = 0.001; µF = 0.000001; nF = 1e-9; pF = 1e-12.

Inputs and settings

Capacitance Converter accepts Value (minimum 0); From unit (F, mF, µF, nF, pF); To unit (F, mF, µF, nF, pF).

Worked example

Capacitance Converter example — Value: 1; From unit: "F"; To unit: "mF". Computed output: { "value": 1000, "unit": "mF", "baseValue": 1, "baseUnit": "farad" }

Output and limitations

Capacitance describes stored charge per unit potential difference. Datasheets frequently mix microfarads, nanofarads and picofarads, creating thousandfold reading errors. This table converts the nominal capacitance value; it does not decode three-digit capacitor markings or estimate tolerance.

Capacitance Converter FAQs

Capacitance Converter applies the following rule to your input: Convert capacitance through the farad: value × source factor / target factor. The worked example on this page uses the same processor as the result button.
Capacitance Converter has these boundaries: The capacitance factors are fixed conversions. Unit labels specify the convention; no live data is fetched. Start by checking the value field against the units or format shown.
Capacitance Converter provides this sample: { "value": 1000, "unit": "mF", "baseValue": 1, "baseUnit": "farad" }. Use the sample button to reproduce it, then replace the inputs with your own values.
