Density Converter

Density Converter lets you convert density through the kilogram per cubic metre: value × source factor / target factor. Enter your own values or load the worked example.

Method and calculation

Convert density through the kilogram per cubic metre: value × source factor / target factor. Factors relative to kilogram per cubic metre: kg/m³ = 1; g/cm³ = 1000; g/L = 1; lb/ft³ = 16.01846337396; lb/US gal = 119.826427316.

Inputs and settings

Density Converter accepts Value (minimum 0); From unit (kg/m³, g/cm³, g/L, lb/ft³, lb/US gal); To unit (kg/m³, g/cm³, g/L, lb/ft³, lb/US gal).

Worked example

Density Converter example — Value: 1; From unit: "kg/m³"; To unit: "g/cm³". Computed output: { "value": 0.001, "unit": "g/cm³", "baseValue": 1, "baseUnit": "kilogram per cubic metre" }

Output and limitations

Density compares material mass with occupied volume. One gram per cubic centimetre equals one thousand kilograms per cubic metre. Temperature and pressure can change a substance’s density; unit conversion retains the entered physical value and does not model thermal expansion.

Density Converter FAQs

Density Converter applies the following rule to your input: Convert density through the kilogram per cubic metre: value × source factor / target factor. The worked example on this page uses the same processor as the result button.
Density Converter has these boundaries: The density factors are fixed conversions. Unit labels specify the convention; no live data is fetched. Start by checking the value field against the units or format shown.
Density Converter provides this sample: { "value": 0.001, "unit": "g/cm³", "baseValue": 1, "baseUnit": "kilogram per cubic metre" }. Use the sample button to reproduce it, then replace the inputs with your own values.
