Fraction Calculator
Calculate with whole numbers and fractions using exact integer arithmetic. Add, subtract, multiply or divide, then read the result reduced to its simplest form.
- Perform four fraction operations
- Reduce results by common factors
- Keep large numerators and denominators exact
Enter a fraction or integer
Use notation such as 3/4 or -2. Mixed-number and decimal notation should be converted to an integer fraction first.
Reduce without rounding
The calculation uses BigInt arithmetic and a greatest-common-divisor reduction. A recurring decimal stays an exact fraction.
Handle negative signs consistently
Negative denominators are normalized so the sign appears in the numerator. Equivalent sign placements produce the same mathematical result.
Check division inputs
A denominator cannot be zero, and dividing by a zero-valued fraction is also undefined. Correct those inputs before calculating.
Fraction Calculator FAQs
Use 3/2 instead. The input supports integers and numerator/denominator notation.
The primary result stays an exact simplified fraction rather than a rounded approximation.
Select addition and enter 1/3 and 1/6. A common denominator gives 2/6 + 1/6 = 3/6, which simplifies to 1/2. Enter an improper fraction such as 3/2 instead of mixed-number notation such as 1 1/2.
