Frequency Converter

Frequency Converter lets you convert frequency through the hertz: value × source factor / target factor. Enter your own values or load the worked example.

Method and calculation

Convert frequency through the hertz: value × source factor / target factor. Factors relative to hertz: Hz = 1; kHz = 1000; MHz = 1000000; GHz = 1000000000; rpm = 0.016666666666666666.

Inputs and settings

Frequency Converter accepts Value (minimum 0); From unit (Hz, kHz, MHz, GHz, rpm); To unit (Hz, kHz, MHz, GHz, rpm).

Worked example

Frequency Converter example — Value: 1; From unit: "Hz"; To unit: "kHz". Computed output: { "value": 0.001, "unit": "kHz", "baseValue": 1, "baseUnit": "hertz" }

Output and limitations

Hertz counts complete cycles each second. Revolutions per minute divides by sixty to obtain cycles per second. Motor pole count can relate electrical frequency to mechanical rotation, but this table performs only the direct cycle-rate conversion, not a motor-speed calculation.

Frequency Converter FAQs

Frequency Converter applies the following rule to your input: Convert frequency through the hertz: value × source factor / target factor. The worked example on this page uses the same processor as the result button.
Frequency Converter has these boundaries: The frequency factors are fixed conversions. Unit labels specify the convention; no live data is fetched. Start by checking the value field against the units or format shown.
Frequency Converter provides this sample: { "value": 0.001, "unit": "kHz", "baseValue": 1, "baseUnit": "hertz" }. Use the sample button to reproduce it, then replace the inputs with your own values.
