Kinematic Viscosity Converter

Kinematic Viscosity Converter lets you convert kinematic viscosity through the square metre per second: value × source factor / target factor. Enter your own values or load the worked example.

Method and calculation

Convert kinematic viscosity through the square metre per second: value × source factor / target factor. Factors relative to square metre per second: m²/s = 1; mm²/s = 0.000001; St = 0.0001; cSt = 0.000001; ft²/s = 0.09290304.

Inputs and settings

Kinematic Viscosity Converter accepts Value (minimum 0); From unit (m²/s, mm²/s, St, cSt, ft²/s); To unit (m²/s, mm²/s, St, cSt, ft²/s).

Worked example

Kinematic Viscosity Converter example — Value: 1; From unit: "m²/s"; To unit: "mm²/s". Computed output: { "value": 1000000, "unit": "mm²/s", "baseValue": 1, "baseUnit": "square metre per second" }

Output and limitations

Kinematic viscosity divides dynamic viscosity by density. Centistokes and square millimetres per second are numerically identical. A centipoise value cannot be entered as centistokes without a density calculation, even when the two happen to be similar for water.

Kinematic Viscosity Converter FAQs

Kinematic Viscosity Converter applies the following rule to your input: Convert kinematic viscosity through the square metre per second: value × source factor / target factor. The worked example on this page uses the same processor as the result button.
Kinematic Viscosity Converter has these boundaries: The kinematic viscosity factors are fixed conversions. Unit labels specify the convention; no live data is fetched. Start by checking the value field against the units or format shown.
Kinematic Viscosity Converter provides this sample: { "value": 1000000, "unit": "mm²/s", "baseValue": 1, "baseUnit": "square metre per second" }. Use the sample button to reproduce it, then replace the inputs with your own values.
