Absorbed Radiation Dose Converter

Absorbed Radiation Dose Converter lets you convert absorbed radiation dose through the gray: value × source factor / target factor. Enter your own values or load the worked example.

Method and calculation

Convert absorbed radiation dose through the gray: value × source factor / target factor. Factors relative to gray: Gy = 1; mGy = 0.001; µGy = 0.000001; rad = 0.01.

Inputs and settings

Absorbed Radiation Dose Converter accepts Value (minimum 0); From unit (Gy, mGy, µGy, rad); To unit (Gy, mGy, µGy, rad).

Worked example

Absorbed Radiation Dose Converter example — Value: 1; From unit: "Gy"; To unit: "mGy". Computed output: { "value": 1000, "unit": "mGy", "baseValue": 1, "baseUnit": "gray" }

Output and limitations

Absorbed dose measures deposited radiation energy per kilogram. A gray equals one hundred rad. Sieverts represent weighted biological quantities, so they are excluded: converting an absorbed dose to an equivalent dose requires radiation weighting information rather than a prefix factor.

Absorbed Radiation Dose Converter FAQs

Absorbed Radiation Dose Converter applies the following rule to your input: Convert absorbed radiation dose through the gray: value × source factor / target factor. The worked example on this page uses the same processor as the result button.
Absorbed Radiation Dose Converter has these boundaries: The absorbed radiation dose factors are fixed conversions. Unit labels specify the convention; no live data is fetched. Start by checking the value field against the units or format shown.
Absorbed Radiation Dose Converter provides this sample: { "value": 1000, "unit": "mGy", "baseValue": 1, "baseUnit": "gray" }. Use the sample button to reproduce it, then replace the inputs with your own values.
