Ratio Simplifier
Simplify a pair of nonnegative whole numbers by their greatest common divisor. Reduce dimensions, counts and proportions to an equivalent ratio.
- Find the simplest ratio
- Support zero on one side
- Use exact integer inputs
Reduce common dimensions
1920 and 1080 share a greatest common divisor of 120. Dividing both sides produces 16:9.
Compare counts consistently
Simplifying 12:8 to 3:2 changes the representation but keeps the proportional relationship between the quantities.
Handle a zero component
0:5 becomes 0:1. Both values cannot be zero because there is then no useful common proportion.
Convert fractional inputs first
The fields accept whole numbers within the JavaScript safe-integer range. Multiply decimal quantities by a common power of ten before simplifying.

The greatest common divisor is 50, giving the equivalent ratio 3:2.
