Black and White Threshold
Turn a picture into pure black and white using a brightness cutoff. Adjust the threshold to decide which details become dark and which become light.
- Choose a brightness cutoff from 0 to 255
- Produce black-or-white visible pixels
- Keep source transparency values
Set the dividing brightness
Pixels are compared with the selected cutoff using luminance. Changing the threshold changes how much of the picture becomes black.
Inspect fine strokes
Thin lettering or pale lines can disappear at some settings. Adjust the cutoff while watching those details rather than judging only the overall silhouette.
Make a two-tone graphic
The result can suit a rough stencil or high-contrast illustration. It remains a raster image, not an editable cutting path.
Account for uneven lighting
One global cutoff applies everywhere. A photograph with strong shadows may need separate lighting correction before a useful threshold can be chosen.
Black and White Threshold FAQs
No. It removes intermediate gray tones and assigns only black or white to visible RGB pixels.
No. It creates a PNG raster, not SVG paths.
Choose a photo with a clear subject and adjust the threshold until its essential shapes remain visible. A single cutoff may lose details in both shadows and highlights. Inspect connected shapes before using the raster output as a reference for a physical stencil.
