Audio Polarity Inverter

or drop files here

Reverse the sign of samples in one or both audio channels. Use polarity inversion for a known wiring correction or to inspect how signals combine.

Choose the channel to invert

Apply inversion only to the side that needs correction, or to both for a complete polarity reversal. Each affected sample changes sign.

Distinguish polarity from delay

Polarity inversion is not a time shift. It does not align microphones recorded at different distances or apply an arbitrary phase rotation.

Listen in the intended combination

Inverting a signal alone may sound unchanged. Its interaction with another correlated signal is where cancellation or reinforcement becomes apparent.

Avoid automatic correction assumptions

The tool does not detect wiring errors or decide which setting is correct. Compare the result against your known recording setup.

Invert Audio Polarity FAQs

No. Time order is unchanged. Use Audio Reverser for backwards playback.
No. Cancellation depends on the mix and can also remove wanted material. It is not a vocal-isolation tool.
Mono averaging combines the two channels. If matching signals have opposite polarity, they can cancel; inverting one may restore or worsen that relationship. Compare before and after with your actual recording. Polarity inversion is not a correction for every time-delay phase problem.
Invert Audio Polarity schedules a background render after a setting changes. The completed preview or analysis replaces the previous result automatically. Processing time depends on recording length and device performance; the status message shows when the new result is ready.
