Binary to Text

Turn space-separated binary bytes into readable text. Decode UTF-8 messages with strict checks for incomplete groups and invalid character sequences.

Prepare complete groups

Each byte must contain exactly eight zeroes or ones. Spaces, tabs and newlines can separate the groups.

Read the sample greeting

01001000 01101001 decodes to Hi. The two groups correspond to the UTF-8 bytes for uppercase H and lowercase i.

Identify an encoding mismatch

A sequence can contain valid binary digits yet be invalid UTF-8. Data encoded in another character set needs a decoder for that charset.

Distinguish files from messages

Images and executables contain binary bytes too, but cannot generally be read as text. Use this decoder for textual payloads.

Binary to Text FAQs

Separate it into eight-bit groups first; explicit boundaries help catch accidental missing bits.
Byte FF cannot appear in valid UTF-8. The decoder reports an error instead of silently substituting a replacement character.
